Above photo shows the Transmission Shifter Cable still attached to the Selector Lever, and the Shifter Cable Bracket is hanging down - this is because the Transmission Pan has been removed.

Transmission Shifter Cable is now detached from the Selector Lever and hanging down

Floor Shifter is shown here inside the car with the Shifter Cable still attached. The four bolts were then removed to release the main frame, and the two small tap bolts removed to release the Shift Cable Seal Retainer. The complete assembly was then removed from inside the vehicle ( see below ).

The assembly was then gradually stripped down for restoration

Above picture shows all the individual parts after the stripdown. The rusted parts were either blasted or wire-brushed and then painted in satin black. Other parts were cleaned up, and lubrication was carried out on assembly. The picture below shows the completed assembly.

The final picture below shows the linkage exiting the floor and connected back onto the transmission, which has the new aluminium pan fitted, complete with drain plug! I never understood why General Motors did not fit one to the original pan.
